Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
